OOTD- Lady in Red :-)

There is just something about the color red. It's the most emotionally intense color. It can symbolize love and anger, fire and good fortune, sexuality and passion, lust and danger, courage and sacrifice. Women that wear red are often seen as confident and assertive. "Psychological research has shown that men find women that wear the color more attractive" (Wikipedia). I think it's just because confidence (not arrogance or conceit) is an attractive feature.

While taking stock of my wardrobe at the end of 2011, I realized that I didn't really own much color, so I decided to add a bit more color to my wardrobe starting with the color that provokes so much emotion- red. I came across a few items during the Asos.com end of season sale that fit exactly what I was looking for (haul video coming soon); starting with this statement dress. The dress at its core is pretty simple, but the bright red color and red on red detailing automatically makes it a statement dress.

When accessorizing a statement dress, I prefer to let the dress be the star of the show, while the accessories are the supporting cast. By accessorizing with the color black, it tamed the red while still allowing it to stand out. I also decided to add a little contrast by using a black clutch with a beige snakeskin print accent to bring the whole look together.

Dress- Asos Black (60s Buckle Dress)
Shoes- Christian Louboutin Pigalle, Purse- ZARA Clutch

Hosiery- Asos (Gipsy Sheer Hearts)

For this month, I've made a conscious decision to wear the color red a little more to celebrate the month of love. I will say that the best accessory when wearing red (or anything for that matter) is always confidence. So remember that whenever you wear the color red, whether it's on your lips, nails, shoes, handbag, or clothing; confidence is key.

I hope you divas had a fabulous weekend :-)
