So as you guys already know, my hubby and I decided to undertake the task of redecorating our bedroom since we already embarked on the journey of choosing my new closets. Living in New York, everyone knows that space is at a premium. We live in a standard two bedroom that included one very descent sized closet that my DH and I shared for almost 2 years. The reason that we decided on purchasing a new closet for me was because although our closet was a descent size, it really wasn't enough adequate space for us to properly share without butting heads. I like organization, while hubby is a bit more lax in that area (lol). He can fully function in a messy room, while I on the other hand, can't even have a clear thought when things aren't organized.
Our goal is to re-decorate every room in our apartment this year, starting with our bedroom. We decided to start with our bedroom because we really feel that since it's the first place you see when you wake up and the last place you see before you fall asleep, it really needs to be the most tranquil space in your place.
Please watch the video below to see the before and after of our bedroom makeover project. We are fully aware of how unorganized it was before (hence the reason for the makeover lol), so please don't judge us.
The space: Bedroom 12'5" by 11'1" (yes, NY apartments are a little small...lol)
Time lapse: 4 days total (closets- 2 days)
Budget: <$2k
Breakdown: Closets (including interior) $1200, Headboard $79, Large mirror $99, Shelf system over bed $69, Window treatment $70, Window Drapes $80, Lighting (over bed & closet lights) $75, Decorative Pillows $70, Misc. $60.
Still to come: Large potted Plant for window and a few other items.
Our design aesthetic is modern contemporary. We really appreciate clean lines and an open feel. We decided to keep the space airy by keeping our soft blue paint color on the walls and choosing the color white for our larger pieces in order to keep the feeling very open. Originally, we purchased closet doors, but then decided on returning them after we realized that we liked the closets a lot better without the doors. Without the doors, they really assisted in keeping the openness and the free flow that we wanted in the room. My hubby says he likes it because it gives the room a 'boutique like' feeling (lol).
We are really pleased with the way that our bedroom has turned out. We didn't have to change everything, just a few key pieces to achieve the feel that we wanted. We are really excited to take on the rest of our rooms with our design on a dime challenge; as we do, I will definitely keep you updated :-)

You guys did a great job with your bedroom and I just love your closet. Fit for a Diva. :-)
