Black suede & leather handbag- Dooney & Burke (5 years old)
The word vintage is copied from its use in wine terminology, as a more elegant-seeming euphemism for "old" clothes. - Wikipedia
Although I have never really been a fan of secondhand vintage clothing, I do have a huge respects for garments that can maintain their quality over long periods of time. In this current era of "trendy", most garments are not built to last. They are constructed to last about a season or two before you toss them out and purchase the next "trendy" piece. I have no issues with trendy garments (I purchase them), but I am a huge believer in investment/ staple pieces as well. These are items that although they may cost a bit more, their quality, construction, and timelessness actually makes them worth the investment over a longer period of time.
Leather trench coat with vintage fur collar (coat -8 years old: fur collar about 25 years old)
Belt & Dark blue jeans- Forever21
These are the most recent items that I purchased, but also the most affordable pieces of the outfit
Leather, Suede, & Fur Boots- Aldo (7 years old)
I absolutely love these boots. They were a gift from my boyfriend at the time (which is my hubby now) to celebrate our 3rd anniversary of being a "couple". I remember when I laid my eyes on them in an Aldo boutique store in SoHo...it was love at first site. They were actually the most expensive pair of boots in the store at that time, but they were worth every penny. These boots were made in Spain, the upper portion is made from soft suede, real fur, an all leather interior, and leather laces; they have leather soles and a 3.5 in heel.
I had to get them a half size smaller because my regular size of 8.5 was sold out, but I didn't care because I had to have them. The first year, they were a bit uncomfortable to wear because of the size, but I didn't care because they are gorgeous (sometimes we suffer for fashion lol). Now after 7 years of owning them, they are actually very comfortable (thank goodness that leather and suede stretched a little with time). Although I don't wear them often, when I do wear them they are always attention grabbers. I love them so much, I now refer to them as my Thunder Cats boots because Thunder Cats used to be one of my Favorite cartoons growing up. Idk, but there is something about them that reminds me of Cheetara & Tygra :-)
I hope you all are having a great New Year so far. I pray that this will be the best year of all of our lives so far.
FACE OF THE DAY :-)
