OOTD- The Cat's Meow :-)

Hey ladies, I just wanted to share this ootd with you because I really appreciate it's dramatic simplicity as well as it's affordability. I know some of you may look at it and think that it's not simple, but don't let the animal print fool you. At it's core, it's basically jeans and a t-shirt. The reason that I love animal print (particularly cat prints) is because it adds drama to any outfit without much effort. Animal print can be used as a substitute for a punch of color and still yield similar affects if not a more dramatic affect. If animal print is done right, it can look classic, fashion forward, even timeless; but when done wrong, it can look like a massive disaster.

I normally try to use animal print in one area of my outfit, but today the shoes and top were calling my name at the same time. I just had to do it lol. I think it still works because the prints are very similar, they're still within the same color scheme, and the solid dark blue denim really balances out the entire look. I know that some may ask me, how come I didn't wear a red belt with the outfit? Well, I realize that whenever people want to add a pop to neutral animal print they usually reach for something red like a belt, shoes, or bag; but I decided to reach for red in places less obvious like my nails and lipstick. I didn't want to look too matchy matchy, but I still obtained the affect that I was looking for.

The total cost of this ootd was easily under $100, but I felt like a million wearing it. It just goes to show you that you don't always have to spend big bucks to feel like you did. As you guys know, I normally love mixing highs and lows, but this outfit didn't really need much for it to stand on it's own. The only thing that I paired it with was a black Dooney & Burk handbag (not pictured) just to carry around my things.

I give this ootd an A for being fashionable and affordable :-)

  4. I think it was very creative of you to add the red lips & nails instead of another accessory. Its all in the small details that make the difference between a nice outfit and a smoking hot outfit. I like your style. Good job!

  5. A girl after my own heart. I love animal prints; leopard, zebra, cheetah, tiger, giraffe. I die! People automatically assume that leopard print should be paired with red, but it's versatile. I've seen it paired with jade green, purple and blue and they all rocked :)
