OOTD- Cozy Oxymoron :-)

I've never been one to wear shorts in the fall or winter. I've always secretly admired the ladies with the courage to do so, but also thought to myself that it just didn't seem right. Shorts are for the summer time right?...Wrong! The great thing about developing your own personal style is that there really isn't a right or wrong as long as your outfit makes you feel good and isn't offending anyone.

I realized that the secret to wearing shorts in the fall and/or winter (not when the temperature is in the negatives because no matter how chic the outfit, you'll end up looking a bit ridiculous when the temperature is below zero lol) is a warm top and killer tights. Each piece is essential for being able to wear shorts beyond the warm summer months. The sweater or layered tops helps to keep you warm and acknowledges the current season, while the tights balances out the total look by not just assisting in keeping you warm, but also works in conjunction with the sweater or layered tops by acknowledging the current season. A great way to add some sass or personality to the outfit would be graphic tights. 


I wouldn't recommend this outfit if you will be doing a lot of walking on a cold winter day, but if you are leaving from your home to a warm form of transportation, to your location; then why not switch things up a bit a go for a cozy oxymoron. To test it out, I wore this outfit throughout the day and to a quick dinner with hubby at one of our favorite restaurants and I wasn't uncomfortable at all, but that could have to do with the fact that I was hardly in the cold at anytime for more than a couple of minutes! lol :-)
