OOTD- A Casual Night at the Museum :-)

I love New York City in the spring and summer time. There are endless amounts of budget friendly acivities to participate in. NYC is busy all year 'round, but there is nowhere like NYC in the spring/summer. Last Saturday, hubby and I decided to make a stop at one of our favorite museums-  The Brooklyn Museum. As part of NYC effort to spread art and culture, the Brooklyn Museum, like many other museums in NYC has a one night per month free blow out around the spring and summer months (some museums actually have a one night per week free access). The activities normally include poetry readings by world renowned poets, book clubs, live concerts, and full access to all of the exhibits in the museum absolutely free. The museum is even opened until midnight for this special night every month.

I have always loved museums since I was a child and I used to go on field trips with my school. Growing up in NYC, I have been to my fair share of museums, but the great thing about them is that every time that you go, there is always something new to see or be a part of. If you live in the NYC area or any area that has museums, stop by and take a look. I feel like sometimes with the hustle and bustle of living in a big city, we sometimes forget to appreciate simple things like art and history; besides, it's lots of fun and a budget friendly date night lol :-).

As I re-explore the museums that NYC has to offer, I will try and take you along with me. First stop...The Fabulous Brooklyn Museum :-)

My outfit was pretty casual, I like to call it casual chic. Just throw a nice blazer over a pair of jeans and it automatically adds a level of chic-ness to almost any outfit. When in doubt, blazer your way out! lol

Strapless lace embroidered leotard- ASOS

I'm telling you, Apollo really thinks that he's a model...lol

Blazer- Necessary Clothing

Repping...lol
Jeans- French Connection

It's always amazing to me to see what different cultures use to adorn themselves. We may use silver, gold, platinum, makeup, hair, or designer clothes to adorn ourselves, but some of the men & women of the Sudan adorn themselves with these beautiful colorful hand beaded corsets.
Both Dinka men and women of the Sudan wear beaded corsets as their principal form of clothing and body ornamentation. -Brooklyn Museum

Don't you see the resemblance? lol...just kidding :-)

Shoes- Sam Edelman

Handbag- ZARA clutch

Here is my ootd in action as well as a mini-tour of the museum :-)

What are some of your favorite budget friendly places to go in in your city?
